214 CHAPTER 12: FRAME RELAY PROTOCOL
E RFC 1490 device. When this option is set, this channel is using RFC 1490
encapsulation instead of the Txport encapsulation. It can be used to connect to
routers or bridges that supports RFC1490 as well. The only type of traffic that can
be sent over RFC1490 is LAN traffic (received from the Bridge or the Boundary
Routing applications).
Transparent, Compression, and RFC 1490 are mutually exclusive options.
Option A - Transparent Channel With Leased Circuit
This option allows the MultiPro unit to operate as a frame relay switch for foreign
frame relay devices. When set for a specific DLCI, this option causes the MultiPro
unit to relay frames exactly as they are received. The only field the MultiPro unit that
may change is the actual DLCI number if the incoming DLCI is different from the
outgoing DLCI. This does not effect the data or transparent nature of connection.
There are two scenarios: One in which the MultiPro units are connected through a
leased circuit and the other where they are connected with a public service. The
configuration in each case is slightly different. Both scenarios follow.
