Configure Slot 3
1. Type "I1" to place port 1 into service.
2. The selections for framing, line code, line build out, network
density, loopback, and FDL settings are already correct for this
example. Type "A1" to set the alarm declare time, enter a value
of 2. The port will now report alarms of a two second duration.
3. Type "C" and copy the settings for port 1 to port 2. The two T1
circuits are identical.
4. Type "I3" to place port 3 in service. The PBX in this example is
an older model which uses AMI line coding, so type "L3" and
select AMI.
5. So that the 24 lines in this T1 will appear busy during a T1
outage, type "S3" and select

. This causes the A and B bits
to be forced to a 1 during any red alarm condition.
6. Type "T" to access the timing submenu. See Figure 2-4. The

example. Once done, the timing selection already configured
for this entire shelf is applied to this QUAD T1 module. The T3
network port of the M1-3 module in slot 6 is the primary clock
source for this node. If that clock source fails, the node will
