Usually the
LOCAL
port is not used. Instead, the module is managed
through the SCM. Figure 1-1 shows the front panel of the QUAD T1
module.

LEDs
The front panel has five Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs).
SYS LED
The possible states for the SYS (System) led are shown in Table 1-1.

The port LEDs reflect the conditions listed in Table 1-2.

LED State Indication
Off No power to the module.
Steady Green Power and the module is not the shelf controller. This is typical.
Blinking Green to Off Power and the module is the shelf controller, should not occur with an SCM present
in the node.
Amber Shelf master negotiation is in progress. Normal during power-up cycle.
LED State Indication
Off The port is not in service. See

Solid Green The port is in service with no alarms or loopbacks.
Solid Red The port is in service with one or more major alarms.
Solid Amber The port is in service and a loopback or test is in effect, or a yellow alarm (RAIS) is
being received.
Blinking Amber to
Red
The port is in service, a loopback or test is in progress, and errors are detected.
