Field Name Description
FDL Standard Specify if you want to use the ATT 54016 standard (TR54016), the ANSI T1.403
standard (T1.403), or both. Make the selection required by your carrier, if any.
FDL Mode Specify terminated (TERM). (PASS) does not apply to the QUAD/IMUX.
Poll Mode Specify if you want FDL to poll (POLL), not poll (NO POLL), or accept unsolicited
information (UNSOLICIT).
• POLL: The near-end CSU automatically polls the far-end CSU for alarms every 4
seconds and reports these alarms. Functions only if the FDL portion of the ESF
framing is routed through any DACS in the T1 network.
• NO POLL: Disables alarm polling at both ends. Select this option when the nodes
at both ends are connected and both nodes report local alarms.
• UNSOLICIT: The QUAD 2164 automatically sends its alarm status (when it
detects an LOS) to the far-end.
PRM C/R bit The Performance Report Message Command/Response as defined in the ANSI
T1.403 specification.
Specify USER to set the bit to 0, indicating the PRM source terminal. Specify TELCO
to set the bit to 1, indicating the Telco is the PRM source. Phone companies usually
set to TELCO, non phone companies set to USER. If you do not wish to set it to
either USER or TELCO, choose NONE.
Idle Pattern Selects the idle pattern code for the 4K FDL portion of the ESF framing. The Idle
Pattern is sent when there is no other FDL traffic. Depending on your network,
select either ALL ONES or FLAGS. The selected signal is transmitted continuously
until a message is sent. Upon message completion, it reverts to the signal of
choice:
• ALL ONES is a signal on an FDL comprised entirely of ones: 11111111.
• FLAGS is a signal on an T1 FDL line comprised of 01111110.
Send/Rec LLB BOP Enable Line Loopback Bit-Oriented Protocol (LLB BOP) if you want to use FDL
loopbacks to test the T1 line.
Send/Rec PLB BOP Enable Payload Loopback Bit-Oriented Protocol (PLB BOP) if you want to use FDL
loopbacks to test the CSU from the far-end circuit.
